Alaska Airlines plane lands safely in Portland after small crack in windshield

Portland, Ore. (KOIN) – An Alaska Airlines flight from Arlington, Va., landed safely in Portland after the plane’s interior windshield cracked during landing.

According to Alaska, the plane carrying 159 passengers and 6 crew members suffered a small crack, however, due to the plane’s 5-layer windows they were able to land safely without any blockage or loss of pressure. Were capable.

All of Alaska’s 737s have 5-layer windscreens with one outer pane, three inner layers and one inner pane, the airline told KOIN 6 News.

The aircraft will now be inspected and repaired by engineers on the ground, Alaska said.
