Pettway, who called herself “the Compton bohemian,” is survived by her husband of 12 years, Michael, and daughters Callie, 10, and Zoey Lee, 3, Essence reports.

Pettway’s death comes nearly nine months after the online beauty guru first revealed her cancer diagnosis in an Instagram post to her 152,000 followers.

“I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. I don’t even know where to start, but I want to share why I’ve been there for so long in the hopes that at least one person will be encouraged by my story,” she said in July. Wrote in 2023.

Pettway said it began as “acute vaginal bleeding” in June 2022. She talked to other women about her symptoms and was assured that what was happening to her was “normal.”

When she went to the hospital after fainting in her home bathroom due to excessive blood loss, Pettway said she was diagnosed with a “fibroid”, which the Mayo Clinic described as a “normal growth of the uterus”. Which is “not cancer”. And they almost never turn into cancer.”

But the bleeding continued and led to another hospitalization, during which Pettway said, “Medical professionals treated it like it wasn’t that worrisome because it was just a ‘fibroid.’

The bleeding eventually stopped, only to be replaced by what the influencer described as “pains like childbirth.”

There was another trip to the hospital in early January 2023 after the bleeding returned “and it didn’t stop,” he said.

After spending a week in the hospital and receiving 10 blood transfusions, Pettway said doctors advised him to see an oncologist and get a biopsy.

“On February 8, 2023, they did an outpatient biopsy on me,” Pettway said. “When I woke up from anesthesia, he casually said, ‘Yes, you have stage 3 cervical cancer.’ “Turns out, it wasn’t fibroids, but cancer. I was treated unfairly this whole time.”

“I remember hearing that and I immediately said to myself, ‘I refuse to come to terms with that diagnosis.’ And so I didn’t. Being told I had cancer didn’t hurt me. It was the reaction of people close to me.”

In an August 2023 post, the mother of two revealed in heartbreaking detail how her health crisis has affected her family.

“The girls are too young to understand, yet they noticed the changes. They often ask, ‘When is mom coming home?’ Or ‘How does mom keep going in the ambulance truck?'” Pettway wrote,

“While being wheeled into the ambulance and saying goodbye to my children, only to see them crying for their mother to stay home, I broke down. And it was hard to see my husband cry,” she added.

Pettway wrote that he and his family “pushed forward and tried our best not to let the current circumstances get to us. It certainly wasn’t easy, but we made it this far!”

Petway leaves behind a legacy of hundreds of YouTube videos, with her popular channel still boasting 228,000 subscribers.
