Derek Hough’s wife Hayley Erbert is currently hospitalized after undergoing an “emergency craniectomy” while on tour.

The “Dancing with the Stars” judge shared in an Instagram post on Thursday that Erbert “collapsed and was taken to the hospital” at the end of her Symphony of Dance Tour performance in Washington, D.C. last night.

He reported that a blood vessel burst causing a hematoma and “required an emergency craniectomy,” adding that he was “in stable condition.”

He added, “I want to thank the first responders and medical personnel who cared for him and continue to care for him.” “I ask for your prayers and positivity during this time.”

Emergency craniectomy is a type of brain surgery usually performed in emergency situations, which relieves pressure on the brain. During the procedure, a surgeon removes a piece of the skull, which is then replaced during a surgery called cranioplasty, according to StatPearls, an online library published at the National Library of Medicine.

Hough’s sister, “Dancing with the Stars” co-host Julianne Hough, also shared her brother’s message via an Instagram Story.

“Please pray and send all your love, healing and light to Hayley and Derek,” she wrote. “Thank you from the bottom of our family’s hearts!”

Hough and Erbert married on August 26.

Hough later told “Good Morning America” that her favorite memory of their wedding was “of course the moment when my beautiful wife Hayley walked down the aisle,” adding that that image “will always be in my mind and my heart. Will remain.”

Hough also said that her favorite part about marrying Erbert is “the feeling of being committed to someone I’ve loved for my entire life,” adding, “It’s a beautiful feeling, There’s a beautiful feeling of freedom and excitement.”
