Hayley Erbert, dancer and wife dancing with the Stars Judge Derek Hough had to undergo an emergency craniectomy after experiencing symptoms during a dance tour with her husband.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, Hough revealed that his wife of just three months “becomes unstable and was taken to the hospital” during the Symphony of Dance tour. Craniectomy is a type of surgery to remove a part of the skull to relieve excess pressure on the brain.
“At the end of last night’s Tout demonstration in Washington, DC, my wife Hayley collapsed and was taken to the hospital,” he wrote. “He was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma caused by a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniectomy. He is in stable condition.”
“I want to thank the first responders and medical personnel who cared for him and continue to care for him. I ask for your prayers and positivity during this time,” Huff said.
Hough and Erbert, 27, married in August; their symphony of dance The tour started a month later.
On Tuesday, Hough helped crown Xochitl Gomez the winner of Season 32 dwts, Hough’s Instagram is filled with positive thoughts and well wishes from fellow show professionals and celebrities.
Like her husband, Erbert has been a dancer for most of her life. While in high school, he competed on Season 10 of FOX’s so you Think You Can Dance And was one of the top 3 women. She performed at awards shows and in film with Carrie Underwood and Paula Abdul.
She joined Hough and her sister Julianne on two of their tours and later joined dwts troupe
