A week after being pranked by Jimmy Kimmel Donald Trump At the Oscars, Trump found a way back into late-night hosting, reading a social media post from the former president before taking the quip. In an interview with Fox News’ “MediaBuzz” on Sunday, Trump talked about Kimmel and said, “His ratings are terrible. He’s not a genius.”

Trump admitted that he never expected Kimmel to mention him at the Academy Awards, let alone read his Truth Social post so soon after sending it. “I said, ‘This guy is even dumber than I thought,’” Trump said. “The thing went viral. It’s happened all over the world now and he just has to keep his mouth shut.”

At last Sunday’s Oscars ceremony, Kimmel read a post Trump had written reviewing the comedian’s performance hosting the Academy Awards. He did so despite being asked not to do so by the show’s producer, who is also his wife. Finally, Kimmel joked, “Okay, thanks President Trump. Thanks for watching, I’m surprised you’re still awake. Isn’t your jail time over?”

Trump’s post read, “Has there ever been a worse host at the Oscars than Jimmy Kimmel? His debut was about a below-average man trying hard to become something he is not, and can never be. Get rid of Kimmel and maybe replace him with another worn-out, but cheap, ABC ‘genius’ George Slopanopoulos.”

“He will make everyone on stage look bigger, stronger and more glamorous,” Trump’s post continued. “A very bad show tonight and politically for years too – disjointed, boring and very inappropriate. Why don’t they just give Oscars to people who deserve it. Maybe this way their viewers and TV ratings will bounce back in depth. Make America Great Again!”

While Kimmel continues to live rent-free at Trump’s house, he wasn’t the only person the former president trashed on Sunday. When asked by host Howard Kurtz how he felt about CNN and NBC cutting off Trump’s speeches or not airing them, the former president expressed disbelief.

“But when you’re using the public airwaves and you don’t have to — you cover a candidate for months, you cover him or her as negatively as possible — or he, she might even be — and then, All of a sudden that candidate wins in a landslide and it’s so exciting and everybody wants to see it, and you don’t cover his speech! And, it’s unbelievable,” Trump explained.

“I think it was a ‘fake tapper’ or somebody turned it off, they said, ‘Turn it off.’ I think, actually, MSNBC did it – ‘MSDNC’ – but they did it. But I think it was CNN that didn’t cover it,” he added.

“Jake Tapper, I knew and really liked him, actually, but he hurts himself very badly when he does something like that. And that hurts ratings too. You look at the CNN ratings, they’re very bad.”

It should be noted, CNN does not use the “public airwaves” and most viewers no longer even watch the station broadcasting on those airwaves.
