NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) – John Drake Jr., son of Police Chief John Drake, was found dead.

On Saturday, October 21, two La Vergne police officers were shot after a stop to investigate a possible stolen vehicle. One officer was hit in the shoulder and the other in the forearm and groin.

Both agents have already been identified and are in stable condition. However, the suspect, John Drake Jr., remained unaccounted for until a three-day search led to the discovery that John Drake Jr. committed suicide Tuesday night.

An update from the TBI says preliminary investigations suggest Drake Jr. died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

This is a developing story. We will update as we have more information.
