LINCOLN – When the NCAA women’s tournament bracket was revealed Sunday evening, Nebraska was a six-seed – which was better than most projections.

The Huskers will play No. 11 seed Texas A&M in the first round in Corvallis, Oregon. The day and time will be announced later.

His opponent hired former Nebraska athletic director Trev Alberts earlier in the week.

The Nebraska men will also play A&M in the NCAA Tournament.

At the Huskers watch party at Pinnacle Bank Arena, many fans chanted “No way” when the matchup was announced.

A&M (19-12) is tied for ninth in the SEC. Nebraska (22-11) has won eight of its last 11 games.

The Huskers are ranked 25th in the NET rankings and have one win against a ranked team, but it was a big win. The Huskers defeated No. 2 Iowa and Caitlin Clark in Lincoln.
