A Galloway police officer was stabbed in the side of the face and a second officer suffered a head injury when they were attacked while responding to a 911 call at a home Sunday night, authorities said.

Officers responded to his residence on Cresson Avenue around 8:30 p.m., Galloway police said in a statement. One person was arrested, although information about charges was not immediately available.

Both injured officers were taken to an area hospital. One has since been released, while the other is being treated for serious injuries, authorities said.

Police said additional information is expected to be released Monday morning.
