A Missouri couple revealed how they managed to land their dream home for less than a grand by purchasing an abandoned property.

Sarah, 32, and Josh Feldshe, 35, decided they needed to get creative when looking for a new home, believing they would be unable to afford anything on the market.

Looking at alternative options, including foreclosures and short sales, the couple attended an auction and decided to place a few bids, not realizing how much success they would have.

In a stroke of good fortune, the couple actually found their dream home for just $700: a three-bedroom mobile home on the four-acre property where both Missouri natives grew up.

‘We bought this property without thinking and honestly just wanted the land. The house was a pleasant surprise.’

After settling where they both grew up, the couple were very happy with their mobile home, which also included land along the lake.

Sarah continued, ‘The purchase came with four acres of land as well as a small shed and a few items left over from the previous owners,’ while also highlighting the ‘nice features’ in the home, including ‘a built-in stereo. and original wood paneling’. ,

‘Fortunately many of the things that were saved were usable and necessary. “Other items we are focusing on cleaning and removing.”

Despite the very low price, the house was in ‘overall good condition’, needing only basic home repairs like a deep clean and new faucets and wallpaper.

Sarah said the house contained ‘items left behind by the previous owners’.
He added that ‘fortunately many of the items that survived were usable and necessary,’ while everything else he ‘concentrated on cleaning and removing.’

‘The land is in very good condition. There are some garbage-like items around but we will work on removing them over time.

‘We don’t have the budget for land. We plan to gradually acquire the items as we find them and build it into the property we have dreamed of.

‘A big goal of ours is to use found and repurposed items or ones we can purchase at auctions, yard sales or estate sales.’

So far, they have spent only $300 on renovating the house and plan to spend an additional $1,000 on fresh paint, decor and furniture.

A bigger risk came with abandoned properties, putting the couple at risk of eviction.

During the first year, the previous owners had the right to reclaim the property – but, fortunately, that window opened and closed with no sign of the former residents.

So, the house officially belongs to Sarah and Josh.

Apart from the house, four acres of land was also included in the purchase.

‘The warm welcome not only from our immediate neighbors but from the entire city has confirmed that we have made the right choice.

‘It’s been an amazing journey so far. We had wanted a property like this for years and as adults we fell in love with the area all over again.

‘We [both] We grew up in a country with gardens and animals and after years of living all over America we wanted to go back there.

‘We envision cows, goats, chickens and a huge garden. We just want a place to be together, spend time and pamper our dogs.’

The house also has a back verandah that overlooks the wooded surroundings.

Sarah added, ‘Every time we stand on our back porch and realize we’ve found our forever rustic home, we realize how worthwhile it all was.’

‘It takes time to research properties and find the right properties to focus on, but there are great properties out there that just require a certain amount of effort.’
