LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Three people are dead after a shooting Monday morning at a law office in Las Vegas, according to officials.

Police received a call of a shooting shortly after 10 a.m. inside a business near the Red Rock resort in Summerlin, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill said. The victims included a man and a woman, while a third person, the suspect, also died.

“The suspect was not killed by the police. “We believe he took his own life,” McMahill added.

There is no ongoing threat to the public, officials said.

McMahill said the investigation is in the early stages and no motive has been established.

Witnesses and other employees were transported to the Red Rock Casino Resort on Monday for assistance and victim services.

“As you can imagine, we have a five or six story building,” McMahill said. “We have people who are hunkered down following active shooter protocols. “We will go door to door and make sure everyone there is okay and we will evacuate them.”

Police have asked the public to avoid the area.

Summerlin stretches approximately 13 miles (21 kilometers) along the city’s western edge, about 30 minutes west of the Las Vegas Strip.

This is a developing story.
