Travis Kelce is thinking about how to gain yards on his new playing field.

The Kansas City Chiefs are the host of the long-running game show “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” is in discussion to host the celebrity-centric reboot of. It will be streamed through Amazon Prime Video, according to two people familiar with the matter. If the deal is signed, it would represent the football great’s latest move toward general entertainment following “Saturday Night Live,” the reality series “Catching Kelce” and a podcast he hosts with his brother, Jason .

Amazon Prime Video declined to make executives available for comment, and CAA, the agency representing Kelce, could not be immediately reached for comment. According to people familiar with the discussions, there are some questions about how much of a commitment Kelce can make to the venture if he continues to play football.

The new version of the program, which was originally hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy and will appear on Fox’s broadcast network, will rely on celebrity guests instead of children, according to these people.

Kelce will take charge of a durable asset. “The Fifth Grader” ran on Fox for three seasons beginning in 2007 before moving to syndication. It returned to Fox for a fourth season, then moved to Paramount Global’s Nickelodeon in a new edition, where it was hosted by John Cena.

He wouldn’t be the first athlete to host a game show. Michael Strahan leads a modern version of “The $100,000 Pyramid” on ABC, and Peyton Manning hosts a new version of “College Bowl” for NBC and Peacock.

No doubt producers will hope to take advantage of Kelce’s relationship with singer and musician Taylor Swift to attract new fans to any series. Swift’s appearances at various NFL match-ups involving the Chiefs last season – including the team’s appearance in Super Bowl LVIII – attracted the attention of many young consumers who may not typically be football fans.
